Born in Cuddalore, Tamilnadu, South India on 8th November 1961 (on Swathi nakshatra, in the tamil month of Aippasi), Sri Sri Swamiji has dedicated his life to spirituality. Affectionately called Guruji by his devotees, Swamiji renounced his worldly ties at an early age to partake in redeeming of the Hindu faith and philosophy. He inculcates a spirit of universal acceptance, coupled with intense faith and steadfast devotion on the path the spiritual seeker is treading on. He advocates Nama Kirtan (singing the holy Name of God), especially chanting of the “Hare Rama” Maha Mantra as the only way in providing material and spiritual upliftment as well as liberation from the mundane worldly existence in this Kali Yuga, as prescribed by Sanatana Dharma in different parts of the Vedas. Sri Sri Swamiji, preaches the Bhakti marga (the path of Devotion) and the greatness of our Vedic heritage. Sri Swamiji lays utmost stress on the significance of Nama Kirtan (Chanting the Divine names of God) as the easiest & the most practical path to liberation in this age and the only lifeline for the masses in this current Age. Nama Dwaar, a movement to propagate Maha Mantra Nama Sankirtan worldwide, is an initiative of Sri Sri Swamiji.Sri Swamiji believes that protecting Vedas is of paramount importance as this will in turn enable society to get rid of its trials, tribulations and evils, and to this end he directs all his activities and teachings. Sri Sri Swamiji has established the Sandeepani Gurukulam Trust, the intention of which is to perpetuate learning of the Vedas, which is verily the life line of Bharata Desa and the essence of Sanathana Dharma. This is accomplished by running Yajur and Sama Veda Patasalas in traditional style. About 80 young children learn Vedas here in a traditional ‘Gurukula’ Style. In an endeavor to spread the essence of Sanathana Dharma and the path of Bhakti through Nama Kirtan to the masses, Sri Sri Swamiji has been offering regular discourses in Chennai and Bangalore. An Ashram has been established in the peaceful rustic surroundings of Maharanyam village, near Tambaram, Chennai. Sri Sri Swamiji has built a temple of Lord Srinivasa Perumal and Radha-Krishna (Sri Premika Varadan with Madhuri Sakhi as his consort). He has also established a beautiful temple of Sri Kalyana Srinivasa Perumal near ashram. A grand and bewitching sight, Sri Srinivasa Perumal has attracted Bhaktas in droves.
To overcome the ill-effects of Kaliyuga, to be liberated from the bondages and tragedies of human existence, and progress towards achieving the highest state of liberation, like the great saints Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Sri Bhagavannama Bodhendra, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Sri Yogiramsuratkumar, Namadev, Tukkaram, Sadasiva Brahmendra and the Azhwars, Sri Swamiji pleads “Nama Sankirtan” as the only path, and the easy one as well, and repeatedly stresses on the same. To this end, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Nama Bhiksha Kendra founded by Sri Sri Swamiji, initiates Satsangs in various parts of India and abroad to regularly chant the Maha Mantra:
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare |
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare ||
